Normalizing Heat Treatment

Normalizing involves heating steel above the critical temperature (800–950°C) and cooling in still air. This results in a finer grain structure and uniform mechanical properties.

Normalizing produces harder and stronger steel than annealing but softer than hardening.

  • Rotary hearth furnace
