Annealing

Annealing is a heat treatment process used to soften metals, improve ductility, refine grain structure, and relieve internal stresses. The metal is heated above the critical temperature and held there, followed by very slow cooling inside the furnace.

Temperature Range:

  • 700–900°C (for steel)

Furnace Types Used:

  • Pit furnace
  • Box furnace
  • Bell-type furnace

Applications:
Sheets, wires, forgings, castings
